Since Windows 7 can figure this out, I consider this just something I don’t have configured properly. Hdmu updated the driver but was still having problems getting the audio play through to the receiver. If I have the hardware already, then why wouldn’t the driver be installed by default when I installed Debian? Anyone else experience this problem – or have any idea how to fix this? When X comes up the taskbars do not extend to the end of the display.

I get a black screen. I read on another forum to put the laptop to sleep and cycle it back on, and that brought the audio back through the hdmi.

Currently I’m using the most recent driver v Not sure what happened. Tried a system restore, still no sound. In all cases the result is the same choppy audio and sometimes distorted audio.
I’ll check when I get home and make sure I am using the latest drivers, thanks for the link. I’m wondering if it’s the hardware, but I had the same trouble with the XPS prior to this this is a replacement.
